Site acting weird

My site has been acting a little slow and weird today. I checked my logs, and I’m seeing a lot of GET requests causing strange errors. Most of the requests have escaped Unicode characters, but they don’t appear valid. Sorry that the site is kinda slow; I’m going to be away from the computer until around late Monday, so I don’t have time to check it now, but I’ll try to track it down when I get back.

Update: The site wasn’t really slow or getting weird attempts against it. This post was part of getting ready for April Fool’s Day.

    To theme.php and/or feed.php? It’s the WP 2.1.1 vunerability - but you’re on 2.1.2 so it should be safe

Matt, nice setup leading to the grand finale ... I must admit I fell for it, partially because you did it so well, and partially because my blog was hacked 2 weeks ago, but no archives were deleted. So, that should have tipped me off...

    Again, well done... Hats off.

Hello Matts, I hope everything is working well for you now, I read on digitalpoint forums that your blog has been hacked. Although now I am relieved that you are here finally.

    Keep posting!

First of all, the math is getting more difficult in your spam protector sum question.

Second, you are very devious, aren’t you? :p

Thirdy, and most importantly, did my email from couple weeks ago make it through your filters?

So this entry about your site acting slow is the prelude to your april fool’s prank. Pretty clever.

Awesome. You know, for the longest time, the internet was almost exclusively the province of programmers, who were always a wild and wooly lot, and I would venture to say that more than half the sites and programs out there in the world had to do with a joke in one form or another. Obviously the web has changed in dramatic ways over the last ten years, mostly in the direction of commercialism, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. One way or another it was bound to happen, and certainly the web is a stronger structure as a result. But every now and then I miss those early days of hijinks and pranks. Thanks for bringing them back, if only for one day this year.

Looked up “slow” and this popped up. Didn’t know it was a joke until I kept reading. Funny, when my computer is running slow big G still is the fasting loading site.
