in Google/SEO, How to, Weblog/blog

Hello Matt,
thanks for keeping up with supplying us with important info.

I have a simple request though, would it be possible to get a Google/SEO only RSS-feed? Not that I dislike your movie reviews or anything it’s just that internet is a big place, you got to select what you read.

I absolutely agree, Huvet. This site leans toward SEO/Google issues right now, but I want to be able to post gadget stuff or whatever without wasting people’s time. My main feed is

http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/feed/

but you can limit yourself to a feed of the “Google/SEO” category with this url:

http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/type/googleseo/feed/

People who only want to get SEO-related stuff should use that url instead of the main feed.

Haha…my vote is more gadgets!

I like your other little articles. Keep them coming. What I really want to know though is what you’re using to generate the security code here. I use WordPress as well and I’m getting tired of banning the IPs that spam me.

Thanks,
nick

Nick, I use SecureImage. If I get my act together, I’d go with a question/answer format instead of a captcha though.

Search Engines Web, for now it’s nice to be independent, so I’ll probably keep it to just me and not have any guest contributors for a while. Although inviting someone to be a guest blogger does sound like fun. :)

Very helpful – thanks, Matt, and thanks to the reader who requested this.

I really like the things you post — didn’t really notice you had a news feed. Though I may decide to incorporate it into my own website now that I know. Thanks for the heads up on grabbing certain parts of the feed.

Also…Google = a gadget.

OK…maybe a high-tech, high-roller type of one, but still a gadget is a gadget ;-)

Jenstar November 13, 2005 at 6:56 pm

*gasp* How could anyone possibly want to miss gems like Matt dressed up as Inigo Montoya ;)

Mike November 13, 2005 at 7:49 pm

So, irony time, what is this post classified as? SEO/Google or something else ;)

Adam Senour November 13, 2005 at 9:47 pm

Hi Matt,

Since you’re taking suggestions (way cool on that, by the way), would it be possible to have some sort of link to be able to contact you for issues that we may not want to post publicly? Like a contact form outside of the blog structure itself or something.

I am the nutcase who believes that there is hidden knowledge in all of Matts posts, like some sorta mad seo bible code for out of work slackers with too much free time on their hands…

but seriously, I enjoy Matt the guy more than that annoying Matt Jagger fellah, boy can he really ruin your day if you scrape some sh*t and mess up your css!!

:(

Heck, I’d even look at your cats if you posted their pics Matt. Would a “cat feed” have tuna breath? ::groan:: sorry :)

Artem November 13, 2005 at 11:20 pm

Your SEO articles are damn interesting, but I’d also vote for more “Indigo Montoya” photos and gadget posts :)

My personal favorites are the examples of how not to spam. I see some ugly spam sites now and then, but nothing compared to what must pass through the google spam team. Where else can I find information about a Barry Bonds race – beanie look?

Could you please give them different titles, as Sage tends to automatically update it to the title of the one in the thread.

How about ‘Matt Cutts: Google, and SEO’ (i.e. no more gadgets)

Huvet November 14, 2005 at 6:26 am

Thanks alot! I got quite supprised reading my nick in one of your posts… after all you’re famous :) Thanks again.

Hi Matt,

It could just be me (although I tried it in IE & FF) but your “direct feed” url doesn’t display correctly (FF message says there’s no style sheet associated with the page)!

(I was gonna ADD this to the normal bookmark – not REPLACE it – honest) :)

Thomas Hofmann November 15, 2005 at 3:38 am

Hallo Matt,

bad, very bad! I did the add of the other URL of your Feed. Then I had two equal named RSS-Feeds. I deleted one. Ugly! This was the false! No I have killed my RSS Archive of your Feed. Would you mind giving me please a RSS-Feed with all your Postings only for the great search cappabilities of the RSS-Reader of the Opera Browser?

thanks in forehand, Thomas

Huvet November 15, 2005 at 7:07 am

ClickyB: “feed” means just that, it’s a file made of raw data, no styles. Google for “RSS” or “Feed” and you’ll find more info. To read it you need some kind of feedreader. I use Thunderbird to view all my feeds.

lol…
/me is a dumbass…
thanks Huvet

Thanks Matts for this wonderful blog. We are getting complete information under one roof. It is really a great blog.

I vote for more gadgets!

I second that!!

I hope you can take it back to the shop… from the reviews i’ve seen this Iphone is clearly a beta product exploiting the hardcore fanatics to test it extensively.
Don’t look me bad, i’m an entusiastic switcher, i’ve got one lovely Macbook Pro in february, but while i’m reading the reviews i have a bad feeling about it.
This first release is missing a lot of functionalities and if you use it for productivity, it’s gonna stress you. Sure it’s a one giant leap in design and technology, but it seems apple forgot something about usability.

Actually, this is the first time I am coming here and checked out couple of iPhone posts. Not that I am not interested in this interesting gadget, but I don’t have it, neither I would like to have one in near future. But right now my area of interest is – SEO and Google. So in a way, this small post about how to subscribe to GoogleSEO posts only showed me what I want to subscribe here. Expect me to be a regular here, right from now.

This is the perfect place for everything, well almost, from google to movies.
Keep it up!
