I wanted to blog, but…

Honest. I wanted to write a big, in-depth blog post about X (pick whatever X you want), but then Emmy came and sat down beside the keyboard with a forlorn face. This is what she looked like:

Emmy is waiting patiently for Matt

Emmy was just waiting patiently for me to get off the computer so that we could play or hang out. How am I supposed to blog under those kinds of conditions? πŸ™‚

    Get a Rottweiller πŸ™‚

  2. No moar waitn on ur furnitur!

  3. Wait till you have kids, man!

  4. Good for Emmy reminding you – and the rest of us – that family is more important than blogging.
You’ve gotta love her approach… cover the notes and give him a look that his mother would when he’s done wrong!

  5. I hear you. I never get any blogging done, its between Google Reader and Gmail for me.

  6. When this one came op in my feedreaeder, i saw it as: I want a but plug πŸ˜‰

  7. Isn’t she lovely?

Looking at Emmy always bring happy thoughts πŸ™‚

  8. Looking closely under Emmy it seems that she almost completed your Ph.D. thesis. The best post ever!

  9. X = Emmy

  10. Emmy is soooo very pretty. There’s simply no way you can be expected to blog when presented with such a delightful distraction. πŸ™‚

  11. Who do you think will win the Miss USA today?

LOL: Are you rooting for Miss Kentucky again this year πŸ˜€

  12. You can always scrape up some content. πŸ˜›

  13. Cats are so much more fun and interesting than dogs and they don’t have to be walked or taken out early in the mornings.

When my wife and I go on vacation, we have to get someone to come in and care for Max (14 yr old persian) and stay with him a while each day. He couldn’t survive being away from home overnight.

A good cat can be great therapy for a hectic day.

  14. Matt – My wife and I settled into our new home last night. Cats like it a lot?!

PS: MY wife LOVES Emmy πŸ™‚

  15. Go take napz. I iz on top of ur wurk.

  16. Matt, you’re working to hard again. Emmy looks so irate with you! πŸ˜‰

  17. My cat zippy does the same or stands directly infront of the monitor with a now what you gonna do look.

  18. My cat Sassy will sit on my keyboard and won’t move until I brush her. Not even the constant beeping of her laying on the keyboard will deter her. She needs her brushing and she needs it now.

When you do get the chance to blog, how about blogging about this:
    http://www.webmasterworld.com/google/3616919.htm

This seems to be a huge expoit by spammers.

  19. If Emma likes to play, laser pointers are a blast. I give Sassy her exercise every day with it. I stand on the second floor of my house and shine the laser onto the floor downstairs and watch the mayhem. She chases that little dot around like there is no tomorrow.

  20. Alright, I am a cat lover and can’t help it.

I’m so wierd about it I even made her a website and monetized her catness.

Say hello to Sassy the Cat:

  21. Play with Emmy while having lunch at Google.. or make sure she’s having fun with other Google kitties around the plex πŸ™‚ There you go.. more time for blogging!

  22. Matt,

Btw, do I see Emmy sitting on your “To Do List” πŸ™‚

  23. That’s a cute cat you’ve got there, Matt.

  24. “How am I supposed to blog under those kinds of conditions? :)”

With a cat as cute as that, it’s nigh impossible. πŸ™‚

  25. Lars Bachmann, I think that says more about you than about me. πŸ™‚

CF, that kit-in-box looks pretty cool. Emmy loves boxes, too.

Charlie Anzman, that would make a good LOLCat picture. Something about cloning or time machines. πŸ™‚

spamhound, Emmy is a big fan of laser pointers too. Having you tried the tips that make a circle? Nice job of mixing SEO with your love for Sassy, by the way. Emmy has the strange ability to shut off my laptop just by walking across the keyboard. I watch and her paw doesn’t hit the power button, but somehow the computer shuts down. It’s weird.

Harith, that was a to-do list she was sitting on. I think I checked to make sure nothing confidential showed up in photo, because I knew a few readers would be eagle-eyed. πŸ˜‰

  26. Matt, at least she waits.

Mine will sit on the keyboard, scream, and bite me until I play with her.

If I don’t, she’ll go in the other room and start making as much noise as possible (usually opening and closing cupboards or batting at the thing that opens and closes the blinds… is there a name for that thing?)

If all of that fails and I’m still doing something, she’ll usually bring me random objects and drop them at my feet. Things like the downy ball, a pen, a wii controller, cat toy, or whatever she has around.

As I’m typing this, she’s got the brush for my pool table in her mouth and is repeadetdly running upstairs with it, dropping it down so it makes noise, and repeating.

  27. Here second favorite next to the laser dot, is the fish filter. It projects a circle with two fish in it.

I had to disable the power off switch on my keyboard just for that reason.

Cats! You gotta love em πŸ™‚

  28. Oh, if you’re curious… here’s a picture of my most annoying cat in the world.

    http://www.dotcult.com/updated-cat-pictures

  29. Awwww, that is just so sweet and irresistable, I’m totally with you on this one πŸ™‚

My cat starts licking my keyboard when he wants me to stop working – I think he theinks that by cleaning the keyboard he is helping me work. (well I believe that πŸ™‚

  30. Ryan, sounds like your cat might be smarter than my cat. We should make sure that they never meet, lest your cat teach my cat some tricks. πŸ™‚

  31. Matt,

I know what you mean. Anytime that I am trying to work on my laptop at home late at night, it seems that 1 or more of the cats (usually Nightcrawler) comes up and curls up next to me on the couch trying to let me know that the attention that I am giving the laptop is not appreciated!

  32. Haha! Cats are great. At least she’s just sitting beside you with the face. My kitten likes to take over the keyboard (wreaking havoc on whatever programs are open!) or lay on top of my wrists so I can’t type. And if I do try to type she swats at my fingers.

At least my kids only poke at me, or whine endlessly until I am done!

  33. My cat will sit next to my chair and howl until I pay attention to him. Failure to do so in a timely manner results in a cat “love bite” to the wrist.

  34. Whenever I am trying to work our cat always seems to know the precise location to lay in to cause me the most problems with getting my work done. The little fur balls are amazing!

  35. JuneM – You can’t have a Zippy … One of ours (above) is the REAL Zippy! πŸ™‚

‘The’ Matt – Yep, all B & W … rescued at different times in 3 different states. Just worked out that way. Knowing my wife an where we are now, the next one might be a goat! (This post is a nice diversion after a long week … Thanks)

  36. Kids are more annoying during work than pets..
A small cry from them and you will just be disturbed. Your cat looks beautiful Matt πŸ™‚

  37. Heheh… It’s okay coz Emmy sat on your note. My cat sometimes sat over the keyboard coz he knew I’ll ignore him if he just sat on my papers.

  38. I like cats. But how do you play with them? Haven’t figured that out. AFAIK, you can pet them but thats pretty much it.

  39. Aww sweet. My three cats come and lurk next to me when they’re hungry. They’ll disappear very quickly once they’ve been fed.
If I want them in the same room as me I just have to put some important paperwork down or take the lid off a box. They must have radar systems to alert them to this sort of thing.

  40. I gave up working from home on my laptop because every time I attempt to use it my 5ft iguana just has to sit on the keyboard and when he gets bored of that he sits on my head, not easy to SEO clients sites when he is around. But I guess he is trying to tell me to stop being a nerd and feed me and there’s more to life than the web.

  41. CF, I ordered one of http://www.therefinedfeline.com/kitinbox-cat-perch.htm and Emmy loves it! Check it out:

    Cute, huh? Emmy loves boxes.

  42. And just a couple minutes later:

  43. Matt,
ThereΒ΄s a place that is called your “lap”. She’ll like it there even better then on your keyboard. One of our cats, (Cindy) likes to be in my lap when I’m behind the computer. The only thing is that I can’t use the mouse too much. (Maybe she gets jealous πŸ™‚ ). Just kidding of course. Using the mouse makes me move my arm and if that happens too much she’s like: “Hey, it was fun, but if you can’t sit still I’m out of here.”

  44. Peter (IMC), Emmy will sit on my chest for hours until my body temperature is so warm that I have to shrug her off. She’s like a little space heater at times.

  45. Cats are cute, but they usually use this gift for evil.
    beware.

  46. She wants attention. My cats also spent a lot of time on my desk or sleeping on my laptop. Also they eat my mouse cable and sometimes my net cables (maybe they are net cats and they miss cables in the food … )
@Gecko they are truly evil (predators) but can they compare to human evilness?
