My 2010 Halloween Costume: Ninja!!

I got the inspiration for this year’s Halloween costume from a parade in Modesto, California. I’ve dressed up as some silly stuff in previous years, so I wanted something cool this year. And there’s not much cooler than a ninja! Here I am showing off my ninja costume:

I tried to be authentic. Check out the details of my costume and shuriken:

The best part about this costume is that when kids ring our doorbell, I’ll go into stealth mode. They’ll never even notice as I silently drop to the ground behind them, pad up on split-toe tabi boots to drop candy in their bags, then fade into the shadows. I’m looking forward to trick-or-treaters this year. And I can even use the costume after Halloween to slip up behind spammers.

Thanks to the ninja parade for inspiring my ninja costume this year!

  1. That’s hilarious πŸ˜›
And you can re-use it every year!

  2. Ninja!! Rocks…..

  3. I got up this morning thinking “hey I wonder what Matt Cutts is dressing up as this year.”

I feel ripped off. πŸ™‚ I little drop of blood on the ground would have made these photos.

  4. Yes, but if you look close enough I do see some foot prints in that red brick pathway. So you are not one-hundred percent in stealth mode. There is always a trail or a clue.

  5. Happy Halloween to you and your family. Hope you enjoy this year with more creative ideas.

  6. Ken Savage, did you examine the full-size photos closely?

  7. haha, very pro !

  8. I see something in distance on the pic ,is that what we suppose to see ?

  9. Happy Halloween Matt πŸ˜‰

  10. I love this post. Have had a great time laughing about it. We’ve had a Halloween party at the Spil Games office in the Netherlands as well. Already looking forward to next year!

  11. a real ninja would never publish a post about his existence. Anyway very good costume.

  12. Ahhhh, I see! Unless your camera has a smudge on its lens, I think I see the not-completely-hidden ninja in both photos. πŸ˜‰

Kudos on the awesome costume! πŸ˜›

  13. This is an homage to Monty Python’s Holy Grail, isn’t it?

  14. Wonderful! Nothing else to say than that!
    Bye,
    Emanuele

  15. Awesome Matt! Happy & Scary Halloween.

  16. Hi Matt,
That’s a good pic! really like a ninja, I couldn’t see the trick before.
I didn’t know you are the same in the youtube video πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

  17. My new Gravatar πŸ˜‰
Happy Halloween to All Friends !!!

  18. There are 20 ninjas hiding in this comment. How many can you spot?

  19. Very Cute. And the best part of this costume is you can get into a lot of parties – even after Halloween. Thanks for the laugh Matt!

  20. LOL, and there, in the distance, a little Ninja fly’s through the air in attack mode. So Matt, how’d you shrink yourself so much and great that you managed to keep the same “stance” in both pics. Happy Halloween everyone .. Booo!!

  21. The video is absolutely brilliant! Hope you had a great halloween.

  22. Very nice! Over the rooftop and in the trees… and you were the one who was detected at the parade in 1984! Good move being slightly detectable as people would never believe you otherwise…

  23. I see the ninja on both images:-

    1. In the gap between the roofline and chimney. (RHS)
    2. 1/4 way down from top right in a hole in the hedge.

You didn’t mention it was a miniature ninja costume. πŸ™‚

  24. Haha. Very funny joke. Really, you’re like a professional ninja ever! πŸ™‚

  25. Yo Matt sorry I can’t see you in this photo..that must be an real ninja costume. Anyway..hope you had fun..

    “TrafficColeman “Signing Off”

  26. This is a great costume to use for telling my boss I am at work in the stealth mode. πŸ™‚

  27. Hey Matt, now I got it, there is one ninja jumping in each picture. One is at the top of the roof in the back house. The other one is in a hole in the top-right on the trees.

  28. What a sweet costume…I think I might want to be a ninja next year.

  29. LOL, that’s rocking. Now I expect to see a few Matt videos a la’ “ask a ninja” style. πŸ™‚

  30. Hilarious, but I spotted you in both pictures quite quickly…

  31. ha you should on april 1st totally change the search results for all things ‘ninja’ related to white text on white background.
“There are 10 ninja related search results on this page, see if you can find them”

  32. Did your neighbor get a new roof or did he have it cleaned? Looks nice. Is that you under one of the shakes on the left?

  33. That’s one small ninja. Like “Honey I Shrunk The Ninja” small. I’ve got it… Ninja Smurf!

  34. Funny stuff…. I was squinting at my screen to find you.

  35. Hahahahaha! Crazy Matt! Now that pic tells me there was months’ of practice behind this halloween costume selection.

  36. ha ha!

    Very stealthy.

  37. This is pretty funny, but I still like the idea for the “hole in the body” costume you did before (even though your technical difficulties slightly derailed the concept).

  38. Nice picture, I see the ninja is doing it’s job (being stealthy ).

  39. It’s not very often that I read a blog post that has the capability of making me laugh out loud… And yes, you guessed it, I DID click on the image to enlarge it… thinking to myself, “Where is he!”

I’ve been HAD – The humility. The humor. The Halloween costume.
