Personally I think that search engines should highlight universal search as an option and if not selected then just search everything. Google, you do this well but to be honest I think could improve on layout or the SERPS on the universal section, perhaps look at ASK ;) Besides this though I much prefer your seperation of content streams, it makes more sense.
