Back from Pennsylvania

I was out of town this weekend for my brother’s wedding. All went well and he’s now a happily married man. It ended up as a big family reunion, with the added bonus of cool, new relatives from the bride’s side of the family. 🙂

I’m trying to catch up, but apologies for not posting for a little while. I’ve also got 1-2 projects that I’m chugging on (more logistical than directly webspam), so expect lighter-than-average posting this month.

  1. That’s okay, Matt. We had all the posts for iPhones most of us will probably never own to stare at blankly and comment on!

  2. Awesome. So any of them know what you do for a living? Not that I have anywhere close the notoriety that you do but its fun to goto family reunions and stuff where nobody knows what you do and you cant possibly explain it to them. Of course I guess saying “I fight web spam” is a lot easier then getting detailed about ways I attempt to “make money online”

  3. Mazel Tov!

  4. Thanks, Nathan!

M.W.A., things just got more interesting:

In fact, I may try to work that into my next post. Don’t worry, it won’t be an iPhone post. 🙂

  5. Matt,

It seems that you have promised your new relatives (from the bride’s side of the family) that you will never ever write anything related to search on your blog 🙂

Btw, good luck with the logistical projects.

  6. Matt,

I was at the wedding, my wife was a friend of the brides…

During the reception, (while you were speaking), I leaned over to my wife and said, “hey, he has the same name as the world renowned blogger Matt Cutts!”

Duh! I get your RSS and hadn’t really seen any pictures…I didn’t make the connection till the next day when I found some pictures from ses on flickr…

Wished I had said hi and got an autograph…lol

    Best wishes to your family…

    Jim

  7. Glad you had a great time Matt at the wedding. I’m curious though – just how much preparation for the wedding did you do on the web/technology? I’m thinking beyond travel and accommodation, for example, wedding gifts, dinner jacket/tuxedo hire, etc? And I’m also curious about how useful the web was for your brother/sister-in-law for their preps?

  8. Welcome back! Good luck with the projects.

  9. The open SEO forum that blogoscoped has would be an excellent addition for this site.

Although no registration is required, the filtering technology is so advanced that this type of spontaneity can be realized.

So perhaps this forum could be added as mattcutts.com/forum/ , as an experiment.

It is not necessary to reply to this idea – just consider trying it out as an experiment.

  10. I know this is extremely off topic, but I hope you can help.

I just found a complete copy of my website on a different url at http://burl.info/ with a different title.

Is there a formal area where I can report this kind of abuse within Google?

I cant reach the reported host of the site, nor can I reach the registrant of the domain.

  11. Beware of new relatives…. Ha. Just Kidding. Marriage is such a wonderful thing. Slow Posting? Who will we turn too? Ha. Its not always a bad thing being bogged down with work.

  12. Jeff Phillips, as Matt has said in the giant green font right above the comments entry box, this sort of question should probably be asked in the Google Webmaster’s forum (http://groups.google.com/group/Google_Webmaster_Help/topics) . I don’t want to speak for Matt, I can’t even come close to his expertise if I attempted to, but Google does have a mechanism for this sort of copying of a site at http://www.google.com/dmca.html . I think that’s the best place on getting the ball rolling on some sort of action to be taken.

You have to prove that you are indeed the owner of the information of course. In general practice responsible hosts usually pull the sites at the hint of one these DMCA reports, as the battle isn’t worth the $4 a month they are getting from the scraper.

  13. Please delete my previous comment. I got resolution to the problem finally and I apologize for not reading the pretty green text above this entry box stating where I should have posted the first comment. Major knee jerk reaction this morning causing temporary insanity and blindness.

  14. You were in my state and didn’t CALL ME???

    LOL

  15. Oh, weddings are always a good time. I hope that you had some fun!

  16. Matt, I’m glad that you had a good time at your brother’s wedding.

    Ps: Could you contact me?

  17. Matt it is good to hear you have a personal life and even better, that you have family! Just joking!

  18. Matt, we were also in PA in July for family reunionizing and I was really taken by all the history of downtown Philly and the Amish farms of Lancaster.

Shoe$ Ha, I sure know that feeling -I’ve given up trying to explain online biz to family, though they sure perk up if *they* have a new website and can’t get it ranking well.

  19. Chugging? Which one — definition 1 or 2 🙂 http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=chugging.

Good luck at chugging away at your projects and, on a more serious note, congratulations too!
